5 essential tips for babywearing success
With the arrival of our new baby carrier, JOEY, we partnered with the Australian Babywearing Association to create a handy guide featuring their top 5 tips to help you use your JOEY carrier confidently, comfortably, and safely.
Tip 1 - Airways Clear
Safety is the priority, we don't want your baby to fall or not be able to breathe. So make sure your baby is always secure in the carrier and their airways (nose & mouth) are fully unobstructed by any fabric or your body.
Tip 2 - Carry High
Safety is the priority, so make sure your baby is always secure in the carrier and their airways (nose & mouth) are fully unobstructed by any fabric or your body.
Tip 3 - Tighten
Ensure you adequately tighten your carrier. Once secure, you want to feel comfortable enough to have your hands-free and your baby doesn't move from the position you've set them in.
Tip 4 - Hip Position
Do a pelvic tuck/scoop at the end of setting up to ensure you place your baby's hips are in the hip healthy 'M' position and encourage their spine to curve in it's natural shape.
Tip 5 - Get Support
If you're stuck, don't hesitate to ask for help. Using a baby carrier can feel tricky at first, but with practice and guidance, it becomes second nature! Look for local babywearing groups, workshops, or trained consultants to support you.
